Amata Corporation, an industrial park development company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, is celebrating its 50th anniversary since its founding by Vikrom Kromadit, marking the success of its operations in Thailand and Vietnam. Both countries are drawing attention from global manufacturing companies seeking a base in Southeast Asia due to their geopolitical advantages.

Mr. Vikrom Kromadit, Founder and Chairman of Amata Corporation Public Company Limited
Amata's history began in the mid-1970s. At that time, Mr. Vikrom, a young graduate of National Taiwan University, began his entrepreneurial journey in his home country of Thailand. After starting with import-export and business consulting, he expanded into the industrial park business. Today, Amata develops and operates world-class industrial parks in Thailand and Vietnam, with over 1,500 global manufacturing companies based in its parks.
Amata's customers include 500 companies such as BASF, BMW, Bosch, Bridgestone, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Cardinal Health, Conch, Denso, Foxconn, GAC, Idemitsu, Magna, Mitsubishi Chemical, Mitsubishi Electric, Nestlé, PepsiCo, POSCO, Sony, Toyota Tsusho, and Toyota, to name a few.
Amata has developed and operates five large-scale industrial parks in Thailand, with Amata City Chonburi being the largest, housing over 800 factories. Amata's affiliate company, Amata VN, manages seven projects (including industrial parks and townships) in Vietnam, all strategically located in important economic zones. These developments go beyond the framework of industrial parks, providing adequate water supply and wastewater treatment, along with rapidly expanding renewable energy (especially solar) use for stable electricity supply. The development of commercial facilities, such as schools and residential areas, is also progressing.
"At Amata, our goal is to create an ideal city that combines sustainability and financial stability through meticulous urban planning, cutting-edge public infrastructure, and proper management systems," said Mr. Vikrom, who will turn 72 in March this year. He added, "The most important factor in the success of an industrial park is selecting a location with good access to deep-sea ports and airports. However, we don't stop there; we are enhancing further facilities to ensure the industrial parks are livable cities, providing convenient and appropriate environments for everyone."
Amata’s industrial land management began in 1989 with just 6 hectares. The total area of industrial land managed by Amata now exceeds 15,000 hectares across Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar, with additional land secured for future expansion.
In Laos, Amata has secured a strategic location in the northern province of Oudomxay, adjacent to the Namor Station of the Laos-China high-speed railway. This new industrial park focuses on renewable energy, agriculture, automotive, and electronics industries.
"We prioritize being a company worthy of the Amata name in every country where we operate. 'Amata' means 'eternal' in Sanskrit. Our goal is to ensure that the prosperity we bring to these regions remains in a sustainable form and continues to enrich people's lives 50 years from now," said Mr. Vikrom.
The Amata Group's 50th Anniversary Ceremony is scheduled for January 17, 2025.
